Crumpy’s Hot Wings in Midtown, located at 1607 Madison Ave, caught fire early this morning, November 15, 2024, according to Action News 5.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to the commercial strip mall blaze just after midnight, battling heavy smoke to contain the flames. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Officials have determined the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction. The blaze caused an estimated $25,000 in damages.

This incident adds to a string of recent fires affecting Memphis restaurants, including two Tops Bar-B-Q locations on Summer Ave and in Frayser, as well as kitchen fires at Mosa Asian Bistro and Huey’s in East Memphis. Both Mosa and Huey’s have since reopened, and no injuries were reported in any of the fires.

Crumpy’s Hot Wings operates multiple locations across Greater Memphis, including spots in Cordova, downtown, and on The Highland Strip. Known for its namesake hot wings, the eatery also serves a variety of casual Southern favorites like catfish, fried okra, and smoked sausage.

Franchisee Latoya Mitchell told What Now Memphis that she’ll continue serving patrons from the Crumpy’s food truck parked outside the damaged building as repairs progress.
