Kellie’s Deli is set to open soon at 516 Tennessee St, Suite 127, in the former Big River Market space inside the historic Emerge Memphis building. Owner and neighborhood resident Kellie Barksdale has long hoped to secure this storefront, according to an earlier News Channel 3 report.
Barksdale brings over three decades of experience in the restaurant industry and is excited to finally run her own establishment. She will work in the kitchen alongside her brother, Jessie Alls, while her daughter, Ashley, will help manage the deli.
The menu, recently unveiled on Facebook, features an extensive range of soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, appetizers, and desserts. Expect deli staples like loaded potato soup and ham and Swiss hoagies, alongside unique options such as cheddar dogs, gyros, and pizza subs.
“We are going to make some of our products for our sandwiches, and we will use Boar’s Head for most of the sandwiches, and I’m making the soups, and then we’ll make the desserts ourselves, too,” Barksdale told News Channel 3.
Kellie’s Deli will offer both indoor and outdoor seating and plans to operate seven days a week. Although the original opening was set for August, it looks like the timeline has been delayed, and a new date has not yet been announced.
