A new homestyle restaurant and catering business is making its way to East Memphis.
Lanier and Company Home Style Cooking and Catering is set to debut at 4465 Poplar Ave, situated inside the Oak Court Mall food court.
A seasoned expert with over three decades of experience in the food service industry, William Hicks will lead this venture alongside his wife, Lavornia Malone-Hicks. Hicks told What Now Memphis that Lanier will embrace a buffet-style setup reminiscent of Piccadilly.
The menu will showcase a rich assortment of classic Southern staples, from catfish and mashed potatoes to fried chicken and green beans. Guests can expect a steam table boasting a selection of roughly 12 different vegetables, accompanied by dinner rolls and hot water cornbread. Another steam table will offer four distinct entrees for patrons to savor.
When asked about the cuisine style, Hicks explained, “I don’t like to say soul food. I like to say homestyle cooking, really, because everybody cooks this way at home—just a little different.”
Inclusivity is key at Lanier, with ample options for those with vegetarian and vegan diets. Hicks emphasized that no meat is used in the preparation of vegetables.
If all goes according to plan, Lanier and Company Home Style Cooking and Catering will welcome guests on September 1, 2024.
