Karina Pham and her husband, Thuy Luong, are the owners of the hugely popular eatery. What began as a pop-up serving Vietnamese-style snacks has quickly blossomed into a permanent fixture in the local community.
The original Mochi & Mi is situated inside the Rio Grande Market on Summer Ave, and the family recently expanded with a second Southaven site.
Now, they’re gearing up for the grand opening of a new Mochi & Mi location at 1605 N Germantown Pkwy, Suite 105, nestled inside The Commons at Dexter Lake shopping mall.
The restaurant’s diverse menu features bánh mì sandwiches, mochi donuts, bánh xèo (stuffed rice pancakes), Korean-style beef barbecue, egg rolls, Vietnamese coffee, a selection of teas, and more.
The Pham family’s connection to the Memphis community is well-established. Karina’s sister, Monica Truong, and her husband, Tommy Fan, own Viet Hoa Market on N Cleveland St. The family also owns Chùa Chánh Tâm Buddhist Temple on Jefferson Ave.
In addition to their longstanding ventures, Karina is set to launch an upscale Vietnamese restaurant at Crosstown Concourse, while Monica and Tommy are opening an international market and food hall in Cordova.
Margaret Tong, the manager of Mochi & Mi and Karina’s daughter, told What Now Memphis that they are hoping to launch their third location within the next few weeks.
