Pastor Chris Conlee, who co-founded One City Memphis with his wife Karin, has filed permits to open Breadie’s Café in the church’s fellowship hall and kitchen at 120 N East Yates Rd.

Permits indicate that the café will operate entirely within the existing building, with no planned alterations to the exterior. Conlee has expressed the importance of maintaining the church building as a cornerstone of the neighborhood.

According to the church’s website, Breadie’s Café is part of Phase Two of the Building One City initiative, a multi-phase renovation project aimed at enhancing the church’s facilities. This phase includes the café buildout, expanded parking, a playground, and upgraded furniture and finishes.

The initial fundraising goal for the project was $1.25 million, but donations exceeded expectations, surpassing $3 million, with an additional $1 million saved in sweat equity. Phase Two is estimated to cost $2 million, with $1.5 million allocated for Breadie’s Café.

Conlee briefly confirmed this news with What Now Memphis, promising to share more details next week. Stay tuned for updates as this project unfolds at One City Church.
