The Center City Development Corp. of the Downtown Memphis Commission recently approved a $30,000 Retail Tenant Improvement Grant to Los Angeles-based filmmaker Miroslav Mitic, who has signed a three-year lease for the property.
Dream Magic Daily Market will occupy the currently vacant 2,842-square-foot space, which was previously used for storage.
The total project budget is $157,000. The grant will cover 19% of those costs, leaving Mitic to contribute the remaining $127,000.
In his application, Mitic wrote,
…We envision Dream Magic Daily Market as more than just a retail establishment. We see it as a hub for community engagement, a place where people can connect, relax, and enjoy delicious food and beverages. With our focus on digital marketing and innovative retail strategies, we are confident that Dream Magic Daily Market will not only thrive but also contribute to the growth and development of Downtown Memphis.
Dream Magic will showcase aisles stocked with food and beverages, cold grab-and-go sections, a café-bar, a deli, a bakery, and plenty of seating. The market will have two convenient entrances: one along Madison Ave and another in the building’s lobby.
According to The Daily Memphian, Mitic, who is writing and directing a movie based at the Exchange Building, learned about the available site during one of his visits. The property manager suggested he could utilize the space if he wished.
Mitic shared that he has a special song prepared, which he plans to perform at the grand opening once construction is complete.
