A new Indian restaurant and bar is coming to East Memphis.
According to permits recently filed with the city, Swagath Restaurant will be located at 5030 Poplar Ave, in the same commercial center as Casablanca and Taste of India.
Owner Venkata Kanchi told What Now Memphis that patrons can expect classic Indian cuisine such as biryani, curry, and samosas, along with a variety of alcohol and some fusion dishes.
Interestingly, it looks like a Swagath Indian Cuisine once existed on Hacks Cross Rd. However, it remains unclear if there is any connection between the two establishments.
Kanchi said that he is hoping to open the eatery in the first or second week of September 2024.
