The Sevillas opened their first restaurant in Cordova in 2017, serving up flavorful dishes from Jose’s hometown of Jalisco, Mexico, to the local community. The name “Portales” comes from the Spanish word for the grand doorways of old haciendas, welcoming patrons into the family-owned restaurant for a memorable meal.

Jose is the chef behind the unique Jalisco flavor of Portales. The new location will feature expanded menu offerings in addition to standby favorites and, of course, signature margaritas such as Amaretto Strawberry, Mango Chamoy, Jalapeño and Sangria Swirl. “We will have a variety of options to pick, from tapas to fajitas!” Mayra tells What Now Memphis.

The 3,200-square-feet building located in The Lake District at I-40 and Canada Road is part of a growing new mixed commercial and residential development featuring retail, restaurants, townhomes, apartments, single-family houses and hotels.

The city of Lakeland has its beginnings in an amusement park centered around the 235-acre man-made Garner Lake. Lending charm and history, remnants of the park can still be found throughout the city. As one of the most prestigious communities in the Memphis Metro, Lakeland remains focused on quality of life and is committed to preserving the environment in the midst of development.
