According to The Daily Memphian, the Durham, North Carolina-based breakfast chain will move into the soon-to-be-vacant City Silo Table + Pantry space at 5101 Sanderlin Ave #104b in East Memphis. (City Silo is relocating to another nearby space.)
Rise is known for its scratch-made Southern biscuits, crafted with local and naturally sourced ingredients, along with its “righteous” chicken and diverse breakfast items. Burgon opened the first local Rise location in Germantown’s Shops of Saddle Creek in 2018, and its success fueled his plans to expand into Memphis.
In addition to his role at Rise, Burgon has teamed up with Lon McDurmon of Memphis-based Traditional Construction Co. to purchase the existing Rock N’ Roll Sushi locations in the city. They are actively seeking franchise partners to expand the sushi chain across the region.
McDurmon, who served as the general contractor for the original Rise location, was eager to join this project, too. Burgon mentioned that the pair spent two years searching for the perfect spot before finally securing the Sanderlin Ave location. Once City Silo relocates this fall, the buildout is expected to take two to three weeks.
“I’m just really excited,” Burgon told The Daily Memphian. “Out of all the places that I’ve heard people say ‘You’ve got to put (a Rise) there,’ it’s always been East Memphis.”
