A representative of Rock’n Dough Pizza did not return What Now Memphis’ request for comment.

According to the Daily Memphian, which first reported the news Apr 26, Rock’n Dough will take over a 7,000-square-foot space that once housed the Trolley Stop Market.

In that article, developer Alex Turley of Henry Turley Co. is quoted as saying, “The whole goal of Orleans Station was to really help create an environment adjacent to the anchor institutions that would help enable them to attract students, faculty, residents, etc. We don’t see it as apartments and retail spaces; we see it as developing a community adjacent to the Medical District.”

Meanwhile, Geoffrey Meeker who owns French Truck Coffee, a New Orleans-based cafe and roastery that will be moving into a nearby space told What Now Memphis, “We’ve got this really great situation where we’ve got a good place for you to start your day, maybe have lunch, and then Rock’n Dough has got this amazing facility that they’re going to be opening for the evening hours.”

Rock’n Dough began its culinary journey as a humble food truck, and within about a year had opened its flagship location. About a year after that, the company opened a second location along with a brewery in Jackson, TN. Since then, they’ve expanded into Nashville and Cordova as well.

Beyond its signature pies, Rock’n Dough has an extensive menu that includes cheese tots dubbed ZZ Tots, various wing options, some burgers, grinders and wraps, pasta, desserts – aka the Encore menu – and calzones.

Perhaps more importantly, however, Rock’n Dough adheres to a “fresh and local” philosophy, and “proudly supports local businesses,” by “[sourcing] ingredients for our menu from local farms and local companies whenever possible,” as detailed on its website.
