Louis ‘Uncle Lou’ Martin, the owner of Uncle Lou’s Fried Chicken, is getting ready to relocate his famous restaurant. After years at its current spot on 3633 Millbranch Rd, the eatery will soon find a new home at 1725 Winchester Rd, a property Martin is currently in the process of purchasing. He hopes to unveil the new spot by late spring or early summer 2024.

According to The Daily Memphian, the upcoming relocation will allow Martin to enhance his offerings and amenities. In addition to the famed fried chicken, Uncle Lou’s menu will expand to include breakfast options such as eggs and coffee, available from 6 to 10 a.m. Furthermore, the extended space will accommodate a drive-thru and ample parking, with plans to keep the drive-thru operational beyond the dining room’s 8 p.m. closing time.

Since its establishment in April 2001, Uncle Lou’s has solidified its status as a beloved Memphis institution. But the eatery’s success extends beyond Memphis, too. Garnering a global following, Uncle Lou’s boasts customers from over 60 countries and 6 continents. The restaurant has earned a plethora of accolades and media attention, including features on The Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives and The Best Thing I Ever Ate, as well as Southern Living’s Off The Eaten Path.

To this day, the focus remains unwavering on Martin and Uncle Lou’s. The Food Network recently filmed another episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, highlighting the restaurant’s popular “sweet spicy love beans.” However, specific airing details are still pending.

Reflecting on his passion for the restaurant industry, Martin emphasizes the importance of fostering genuine connections with customers. “If you want to be in the restaurant business, you’ve got to love what you’re doing,” he wrote on Uncle Lou’s website. “I’m a people person, and I try to meet and greet as many people as possible who come through that door. I love talking to the customers and I love keeping them satisfied.”
