According to Alderman Kevin Quinn, construction began just days ago and is progressing smoothly thus far. “It’s a big, flat piece of ground that has only been farmland with a house, barn and a cow pasture,” the alderman mentioned in a recent Facebook post. “This usually makes for few surprises as you start moving earth and burying utilities. They also lucked out that the dirt needed for the detention pond at the back of the lot can be scraped off from the actual restaurant site.”

Zaxby’s already boasts ten locations in Shelby County, with multiple spots in Memphis, as well as branches in Cordova, Lakeland, Collierville, Olive Branch, and Southaven. The latest addition in East Memphis debuted in late 2023. Jeremy Gattie of Memphis Foods, LLC, which is responsible for managing all local Zaxby’s outlets, was not immediately available for comment.

The fast-casual chicken chain offers chicken fingers, sandwiches, and wings, often served as complete meals with Texas toast, crinkle-cut fries, and a drink. They also serve a variety of ‘zalads’ and have recently introduced southern fried shrimp to their menu.

Situated on the north side of Stage Road at Mercury Street, the Bartlett property sits adjacent to Bowlero’s bowling and entertainment center. Alderman Quinn said that Dimension Construction hopes to complete the project in approximately four months, so expect an opening date in late July or early August 2024.

Stay tuned for further updates on the official opening day as this project progresses.
