A cartoonishly horror-themed mini-golf concept, aptly named Monster Mini Golf, is set to open later this summer at 7790 Trinity Rd, just outside Shelby Farms Park in Cordova, according to franchisee Jason Foucha.

“We’re just a couple months out now,” Foucha tells What Now Memphis, adding, “we’re super excited to get out there for everybody and show everybody what we can do.”

Monster Mini Golf is truly a labor of love for Foucha, who’s opening the entertainment complex with his wife and parents. What’s more, it’s an opportunity for the veteran of family-friendly activities to stand at the helm of his own vision.

“We’re not a big conglomerate, we’re not a big franchise, this is a complete family operation. My parents, my wife, and I have kind of pumped all of our savings into this, to fund it,” says Foucha. “Me coming from a background in this family entertainment, this was our ‘put-up-or-shut-up’ moment, of I can do this better, so let me show the community how it’s supposed to be done.”

Monster Mini Golf is a unique indoor take on the popular game, featuring 18-holes of black-lit mini-golf, as well as other entertainment options such as an arcade, a state-of-the-art laser tag system, a couple of party rooms, and a yet-to-be-named fast-casual restaurant serving pizza, appetizers, shareable entrees, or what Foucha calls “a little bit more elevated than your basic snack bar.”

The first Monster Mini Golf was opened nearly 19 years ago to the day, during Memorial Day weekend 2004, by founders Christina and Patrick Vitagliano in Danielson, Connecticut. By 2005, the company had begun franchising and has since grown to some 30 locations spread throughout the US and Canada.

“Our vision is to provide every guest – whether they’re 5 or 95 – the most unique, affordable, engaging, and fun family entertainment option,”  Christina Vitagliano writes on the company’s website. “We aim to break the mold on how miniature golf, and family entertainment in general, is viewed and experienced.”
